EACPT Geneva 2013: Updates in Clinical Toxicology

Abstract submission is now open for the next EACPT Congress, to be held in Geneva 28-31 August 2013. The congress includes symposia, keynote lectures and peer-reviewed oral and poster communications.

Symposium on Updates in Clinical Toxicology
New medicines, new therapeutic principles, development of new chemical substances, new illicit drugs are all challenges for Poisons Centres and clinical toxicologists in Europe and elsewhere. All these represent new risks for accidental, intentional, occupational, and abusive exposures to an ever increasing number of agents. Research in clinical toxicology leads to new antidote treatments and insights into toxic mechanisms. As large studies are often difficult to perform in human toxicity, careful diagnostic workup of individual cases will sometimes reveal surprising results, even in well known substances such as dioxin or paracetamol.

2013 EACPT Congress
Over 900 participants are expected to attend including health professionals, scientists, policy makers, biotechnology and pharmaceutical professionals, and others with an interest in basic and clinical pharmacology, pharmacotherapy, drug discovery and development, regulatory affairs and related areas.
